Heat Design
Since the 1978 oil embargo, when it was apparently that fuel supply was going to
be a problem, we have designed heating systems based on actual heat loss. After
attending the IBR school to learn the intricacies of calculating heat loss, we
designed a computer program that made the calculations easier and enabled us to
change the needed defined parts to determine how best to design a finished
system. We are also able to balance existing systems using the calculations and
manage the heat in a home, based on actual baseboard, by using ratios.
With the advent of radiant heat, the knowledge learned was transferred to a much
different calculation, resulting in a heat loss decrease of up to 30%. We are
also able to balance radiant heat in runaway systems and update accordingly!
